Enjoy the relaxing activities on Bora bora Island. |
Let's face it. The Tahitian islands are all about relaxation. The Polynesian lifestyle assures that.
With the exception of just a few sports activities, people in Tahiti Polynesia just aren't in a hurry, no matter what they're doing!
Bora Bora definitely suits this classic, laid-back attitude. Sun drenched tropical beaches and their accompanying heat cry out for sun worshippers by day, and recuperation from that heat and sun in the evenings.
A great place to get away from the stresses of life, the island of Bora Bora is your personal relaxation oasis. Breathe in deeply the South Pacific air as you gently sway in your hammock. Read a book. Sample the polynesian cuisine choices of the island's many restaurants.
Perhaps you'll want to take a tour of some of the local sights? In the evening, if you still have energy, check out WORLD FAMOUS BLOODY MARY'S for a relaxing drink and fantastic ambiance.
This page is your RELAXATION guide to Bora bora. Use it to help plan an upcoming vacation or perhaps assist you in choosing or pre-planning a specific activity on Bora Bora island.

Nightlife & Entertainment
Do you like to DANCE AND PARTY ALL NIGHT LONG? Do you like packed nightclubs? Well, if you do, we recommend going to New York, Los Angeles, Paris, or Rome. Bora Bora just isn't the place...
Although there are faint glimmers of hope for a future "club scene", don't hold your breath...
Other internationally renown tropical island groups like Hawaii, the Virgin Islands, and the Caribbean are perhaps 20 years ahead of the nightlife on French Polynesia's Society Islands. (With the exception being Papeete on the island of Tahiti)
Because of its relatively high level of tourism, Bora bora has a few choices, but the pick is limited:
Bloody Mary's
Telephone- (689) 67.72.86
Lunch / Dinner / Seafood Specialties, occasional live music, and an active bar. (that's the nightlife part...)
Closed Sunday. Round trip transfers provided.
| Club Med
P.O. Box 34 Vaitape, BORABORA
Telephone- (689) 60.46.04, Fax- (689) 60.46.10
They have nightly "entertainment" that can only be described or classified as "so Club Med", and an active bar with lots of swirling honeymooners and a few stray singles. They let you in if you buy a strand of beads. (Standard Club Med Currency)
| Le Recif
Located on the circle island road just past the Bora bora Yacht Club, you'll see the sign and people milling about...
(Telephone unknown, and we don't know the address, but it isn't hard to find. Just ask any local.)
This is the only place on the Society Islands (outside of Papeete) that we've found that can really be considered to "go off"... Dancing, heavy drinking and partying ALL NIGHT LONG, this place is open on Fridays and Saturdays only and usually gets going around 12:00 pm...
Hip-hop, rap, raggae, trance, funk, and some trippy island dance music make for a pretty happening music scene. Young(ish) locals seem to make up about 90% of the clientelle, mostly because tourists usually don't find out about it soon enough... definitely worth a looksee if you like to dance and party latenight and need to get your yaya's out.
(One word of caution to male tourists about this place would be to avoid confrontations with the drunk males which are known to frequent this place... sometimes things can get a bit "fighty" after everybody gets liquoured up, and the local boys are fond of fighting.)

The guests and their needs are their primary concerns - personalized treatments can be developed after a private consultation with the spa director, Mrs. Brigitte Cicéron.
