Previously known as the "Aqua Safari", this unique underwater experience on Bora bora doesn't require a boat or any scuba diving experience.
Its a great way for people who may be a little scared of the idea of being underwater and don't want to go through the process of learning to scuba dive, but at the same time really want to see what a prolonged underwater experience is all about...
With this ingenious apparatus, you don't breath compressed air, but rather fresh air pumped in from the surface... and you stay in shallow and calm waters the whole time. (the specific locations chosen for the helmet dives ensure a safe experience yet at the same time give you access to the same beautiful corals and undersea life that scuba divers here experience.)
To belay any fears, a certified diving instructor accompanies you at all times. Whether you are 8 or 80 years old, this is an experience you won't want to miss!

This is a NEW and unique adventure in Polynesia and exists in only two places in the world!
The activity is basically a guided exploration of the bora bora lagoon seabed using two-seater submersible scooters.
These scooters are equipped with a glass bubble, leaving the head dry and the user able to breathe normally through a constant air flow.
Nothing is easier: you pilot your own craft for 45 minutes in waters up to 3 meters deep.
This activity is safe and available to all... there's no need to swim or dive.

Two people can comfortably sit, one behind the other, breathing and speaking freely and naturally under the large common dome, which is transparent and panoramic. The launch is a smooth lift.
For your safety, a diving guide will guide you through the 45 minutes of your cruise underwater.

Yes, there's actually a submarine on Bora bora...
just when you thought you'd seen it all, look out folks, it's the one and only Spirit of Adventure!
During this unusual and fascinating experience you'll see all the usual marine life suspects: sting rays, jackfishes, snappers, damselfish, multi colored beauties, and beautiful corals all around. Depending on the time of year or water conditions, you may also see turtles, moray eels, sharks, and more amazing creatures.
The bottom line for this activity is that no matter what you see, this submarine is definitely a unique Bora bora experience...

Definitely unique to Bora bora and a favorite of many travelers, the Bora exotic LAGOONARIUM is pure island fun with no equal anywhere in the world...
(To be fair, there IS another Lagoonarium on the island of Tahiti, but you can't get in the water with the creatures, so it's really not the same thing...)
At the Bora bora LAGOONARIUM, you will not only see, but actually INTERACT with the amazing creatures of the Bora bora lagoon as you swim alongside them with an experienced underwater guide.
All the creatures you've seen pictures of and heard about are here: Turtles, sharks and rays, tropical fishes in incredible numbers, and more...

There is one place that it used to be possible to ride horses on Bora bora...
The problem is, as of late 2010, we aren't sure if they still operate this activity...
That said, if you're a equestrian enthusiast and are on the island, you can try them...
(and if you actually get to ride a horse with them, please email us and let us know about it.)

Fishing the reefs just outside the Bora bora lagoon is a great way to spend the day. You don't really even have to be a fishing enthusiast to have fun doing it.
The clean air, water, and Polynesian sun will be ample rewards for your time spent out on the water. If you catch some fish, (and you probably will) that's just an extra bonus!
Here's a business that offers a great light tackle fishing experience!

Enjoy a half day fishing experience on our famous 17 foot Boston Whaler. Morning or afternoon, our expert captain will take you to the best fishing grounds outside the reef, trolling for jacks, wahoo, barracuda, mahi-mahi, bonito, yellow fin tuna and occasionally marlin...
The calmer waters of the lagoon will also allow for some quiet light tackle hand line spinning and fishing near the barrier reef. Fly fishermen with their own equipment are also welcome.
In addition to these fishing trips, we also offer glass bottom boat rides, shark & ray feeding snorkeling safaris, picnics on a motu and, for those of you that don't want to be mixed with the crowds, our exclusive private lagoon tours.
With MOANA ADVENTURE TOURS you'll always find the right activity to suit your budget.
Please see our website for all the details.
Sadly, as is the case with most other islands in French Polynesia, camping on Bora Bora is rather limited. There are only a few "official" spots to camp, and they are on the grounds of certain pensions. These "campgrounds" can serve as alternatives to hotel stays for those of you who like the outdoors. Basic amenities will vary but may include communal shower and bath facilities, communal kitchens, and storage space.
As of late 2010, the only places on Bora Bora that facilitate camping on their premises (that we are aware of) are listed below.
Village Pauline | Chez Henriette |
Of course, there will always be those adventurous and rugged backpacker types that will inevitably seek hidden spots along the shorelines of the lagoon or quiet places in the interior to rest for the nights. The locals won't encourage this because MOST OF THE SHORE ACREAGE IS PRIVATE PROPERTY, but if you must: Beware, take heed, give respect when confronting a property owner, and definitely, NO garbage and NO fires.
Good ideas for campers: Bring your own tent and get permission from any landowners you happen to come across...
Lastly, if anybody finds out any other good places to camp on Bora Bora, please email us with the details and we'll share the knowledge here for future campers.
If you're fortunate enough to have the financial ability to partake in a helicopter or small airplane tour of Bora Bora or any of the other Society Islands, we highly recommend it.
Flying over these islands is something different and always amazing... the colors of the ocean and all their blue tones with a lush and green island oasis seemingly placed on top is an amazing and
unforgettable sight.
(Although no TST member has actually experienced this activity "just for fun", we can only imagine from our many airplane flights between the islands how nice it would be.)

Take a helicopter tour of the most famous island and lagoon in the world.
These heli tours are the most luxurious option for experiencing the island.
